United Kingdom Jessica Strange Review WISTIO
Thanks for WISTIO tubeless valve stems. I managed to get my hands on a sample of them to test them out for going tubeless on my Canyon Spectral. I received a variety of aluminium and brass valves, in a number of different colours and sizes, along with two valve adaptors and 2 valve core removers.
There were three different types of seals across the sample, an o-ring seal which is on the American Classic 40mm valve, the classic square seal and a circular wedge seal. In my hand, the valves felt sturdy with the brass ones being slightly heavier than the aluminium ones, as expected. I used the core remover tool provided to take apart the valve fairly easily and I was happy to see a well built valve with quality materials.
Between my bike and my partner’s bike I was able to test out all three seal types for a good comparison. I found the American Classic valve with the o-ring seal the best for the job. It came apart perfectly, was easy and effortless to install and sealed the tyre well. The square seal does the job as well, although I had to wiggle it around a little to get a better contact with the tyre. Then the circular wedge seal was tricky as I found it spun in the tyre and didn’t seal as affectively as the previous ones. After some fiddling around with it, I managed to get the valve into position and seal the tyre.
Overall, I think Wistio manufacture a high quality tubeless valve which I would be happy to purchase in the future. They are well made, easy to use and the multiple colour options are attractive to really customize your bike set up. The more weight conscious rider may prefer the lighter aluminium value, rather than its brass counterpart.
